Creating meaning through making in my practice allows room to explore the unformed, fluid and fleeting experiences that cannot manifest as coherent language, into some tangible form so that I can layer them into concrete structures of meaning. In art and embodiment philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty explored a similar theory of embodied experience arguing against a mind body duality instead proposing an embodied approach where, art is thinking. My experimental process driven practice selectively introduces materials with a sense of fluidity, or convey notions of time/ space/light such as dichroic film and acrylic, these are used in unexpected ways in an attempt to illicit engaging unknown outcomes. In this way the meaning emerges within the making.

Colour at large & Architecture.

Colour is disruptive and disorderly, what happens when it’s fluid force meets the ordered structure of Architecture.

Exposing space using reactive material energies, colour and light.

Architecture, container of space, a reflection of current and significant historical moments, and a keeper of secrets.

This work explores its ability to guide and control our movements, to shape our experience of spaces.

Designed to engage. In Melbourne the majority were curious, It quickly became evident there was an interior world to be found. In regional Victoria, the result was very different, no one engaged, even after sending in my children. In fact people avoided the normally busy thoroughfare so as not to be confronted.
